Rosboro Manufactured Timber

In an effort to protect and preserve old growth forests, many grades and lengths of Douglas fir solid sawn timber have become increasingly less available. Rosboro has worked with the WWPA to create RMT®, a better alternative to Douglas fir timber.

Similarities to Solid Sawn
How does RMT size up to solid sawn? It's certified under the same lumber grading rules as solid sawn, and is structurally engineered to meet the stress ratings of solid sawn timber grade for grade. RMT is also manufactured to uniform dimensions similar to solid sawn, so it's completely interchangeable with a solid sawn timber of the same size and grade.

Outpacing Solid Sawn in Length and Strength
When it comes to length and strength, RMT beats solid sawn. RMT is available in a range of lengths up to 48 feet. Because it's kiln-dried to a moisture content of less than 15 percent before assembly, it resists twisting, splitting, cupping and warping, which are common problems with solid sawn green timber.

Added Job Site Protection
In addition to being kiln-dried, RMT is coated with a sealer to retard moisture and UV exposure. Wrapping the product in this way also enhances its dimensional stability, improving its safekeeping. This also keeps RMT from distorting in the yard or at the jobsite unlike solid sawn timber.

Environment and Code Recognized
Unlike solid sawn timber, RMT is made from smaller, faster-growing trees cut from second and third generation forests, making it the best choice when it comes to preserving the environment.

RMT is inspected and certified by the WWPA in compliance with the American Lumber Standards (ALS) and is recognized by building inspectors throughout the country. It is also approved for usage in California public schools by the Division of the State Architect (DSA).
