A note about Rosboro Columns
Since compression parallel to grain stresses are distributed uniformly over the cross-section of a typical column member, Rosboro glulam columns are manufactured using a single grade of lumber throughout the depth of the member. Two distinct values are provided for Fb depending on which axis the load is applied to, i.e., parallel to the wide or to the narrow face of the member. If a column is going to be loaded as a combined axial and bending member, it may be preferable to specify a product engineered to serve as a bending member such as a BigBeam. Such members use a graded lumber layup throughout the depth of the member and are more efficient for resisting high bending stresses.

Treated Glulam Columns
Made from decay-resistant southern Pine, Rosboro Treated Glulam Columns are pressure treated with the Permapost Green-Gard PT™ treatment, an ideal fungicide and insecticide for long-term product life of both ground and above-ground uses. Intended for exterior use, Green-Gard PT™ is effective against the dampwood, drywood, and subterranean termites, including the Formosan termite. Rosboro recommends that columns be placed on a pier block, but if the column is used in a ground contact application, then it should sit in a gravel bed that allows proper drainage. Rosboro 1.9E Laminated Columns
Rosboro Laminated Columns (framing appearance) are intended for applications that demand a straight, tall column that will be hidden from view. This product is an ideal choice for projects that include tall walls, such as those found in expansive entryways or seamless floor-to-ceiling interiors. The 1.9E column is available in long lengths and matches standard framing widths.
